Frequently Asked Questions

Booking and opening hours

Our steam saunas are generally open for booking between 09:00 and 23:00, all year round.

For special requests, we can arrange for you to arrive as early as 06:00 and use the sauna until the regular opening time of 09:00.

During this period, the sauna is self-service, and you must heat it yourself and calculate the time.

Send us an email to arrange this.

You will arrive at a pre-heated sauna that has been cleaned and prepared with extra firewood for your visit.

Your sauna session is completely private, so you have the entire sauna at your disposal for the duration you have booked.

We would appreciate it if you would put a log of firewood into the oven when your session is over, to keep the sauna warm for the next guest.

You normally pay for the sauna visit via Vipps by paying the amount for your session (number of people, amount of hours) to the vipps number that is posted in the sauna. This way, you can split the payment so that each person can pay for themselves, or someone can treat others if desired.

We can also arrange card payment via Stripe. This is mainly used by tourists and foreign guests where Vipps is not available, but can also be arranged for Norwegian guests if desired.

We can also send out a full invoice for larger group visits or corporate meetings.

To receive a link to pay via Stripe (card), or receive a full invoice, send us an email at post@booksauna.no.

We respond quickly!

To quickly increase the temperature in a steam sauna, use the ladle and throw fresh water from the bucket onto the sauna heater to create steam.

The increased humidity makes the existing temperature in the room immediately feel more intense, so work your way up little by little.

Also check that there is enough wood in the oven, and always be sure to close the oven door properly after adding new wood.

Important: Never use anything other than fresh water on the sauna heater!

  • Remember to drink enough water during your sauna session, and take breaks if necessary to cool down. Either sit down on a lower bench level, or leave the sauna for a few minutes to regulate the temperature. A refreshing dip can be perfect!

  • Check carefully whether there is a “no diving” sign or similar before you jump into the water. If so, only use the swimming stairs/ladder that Booksauna has set up to enter the water.

  • If you feel unwell or dizzy, you should listen to your body’s signals and interrupt the session. Never bathe if you feel unwell.

  • Although the temperature fluctuations achieved by going out and cooling off in the middle of a sauna session provides great health benefits, it is a good idea to try this out little by little at first. Do not jump into the middle of the ice-cold water straight from a hot sauna if you are a beginner. Go outside and feel the cold for a little while before going back in, and build up experience and learn how your body reacts.

  • Saunas are also well-suited for children, but remember that children become dehydrated and overheated more quickly than adults. Therefore, it is important that children take breaks more frequently, sit on the lower bench levels, and always have bottles of drinking water available for the sauna session.

  • Children are only allowed to bathe under adult supervision.

  • The sauna oven is protected with sauna stones, but is still really hot. To avoid burns, never touch the sauna oven, and never place objects next to or on top of the oven.

  • Never use the sauna when intoxicated.
  1. When firing, only use firewood (dry birch) that Booksauna has prepared in the sauna.
  2. When firing, all doors in the sauna should be closed to prevent drafts that can cause flying sparks.
  3. When firing, do not mess around with existing coal and create sparks, but carefully insert the new log and close the door.
  4. When firing, be aware of sparks flying out of the stove door and past the protective metal plate. If necessary, pour water on the floor if this occurs.
  5. When not firing, the stove door should always be properly closed.
  6. Never place objects on top of or near the sauna stove.
  7. Firelighters used when firing should always be placed straight back in their place, which is in the metal bucket in the wardrobe.
  8. When leaving the sauna, make a final check to make sure that the stove door is properly closed, that no burnt wood or coal has fallen onto the floor, and that the sauna is in the same condition as when you found it.
  9. In the event of a fire, immediately use the fire extinguisher located in the wardrobe and call the fire department’s emergency number 110.
  10. Check that the water bucket located inside the sauna is always filled with water, and use this if necessary to extinguish the fire.
  1. Avoid playing loud music so as not to disturb the surroundings. The same applies to shouting and noise levels in general, which should be kept at a normal level.

  1. Remember to bring all personal belongings with you, and clean up any trash you bring and throw it in the designated trash cans so that the area around the sauna remains clean.

  1. Leave the sauna warm for the next guest. Please do not let the stove burn out completely.

  1. Always check that the stove door is properly closed and locked, and always close the front door to the sauna when you leave.

Do you have a company that wants to use the sauna for gatherings? We can always arrange corporate agreements with favorable prices for selected companies.

Send us an email at post@booksauna.no and give a presentation of your company, and we will come to an agreement!
